Food Photography by Michael Ray
Food photographer Michael Ray, welcomes you to his food portfolio web page. Michael is a Pittsburgh based, nationally acclaimed food photographer, noted for his beautiful photographic lighting techniques. His specialty is supplying dramatically lit food images for advertising, packaging, editorial, and cookbook projects. Ad agencies, graphic design firms, grocery stores, restaurants, catering companies, and cuisine manufactures have asked Michael to do his magic for their food photography projects.
Food Photography Studio
Michael is at home in either his 3000 square foot Pittsburgh food photographer ‘s studio or on location anywhere around the country. His photo studio has a fully equipped restaurant style kitchen and a vast supply of food related props, not to mention numerous shooting surfaces available for those last-minute client changes.
A food photographer ‘s equipment is, of course, is very important too. Michael strives to keep his digital camera and computer equipment state-of-the-art, while keeping the tried-and-true film equipment available for those clients that still request it. As a matter of fact. Michael prefers to shoot with an Arch Swiss view camera and marry that nineteenth century technology with a current-day digital photography system. The result is total control for in-camera image refinement that Photoshop post-production efforts can only attempt to mimic.
The food photography studio’s shooting area is spacious enough for creating large sets or for running multiple sets. Seventeen-foot ceilings and huge windows make this studio a food photographer ‘s dream.
